Refuge Ministries International

Refuge Ministries International, Inc.—a non-profit, nonpolitical, and interdenominational organization headquartered in Drexel, Pennsylvania—came into being when it was realized that people of goodwill could no longer sit as spectators to watch vulnerable children in Liberia die from hunger and malnutrition due to the Liberian civil war.

Amazing Things for You

At Refuge Ministries International, we believe that every child deserves a future filled with hope, education, and opportunity. Through our programs, we provide life-changing support to orphaned and abandoned children in Liberia—offering education, healthcare, shelter, and leadership training.

Executive Director

During the conflict, which engulfed the Liberian society for fourteen long years, many children lost their parents, and even those who were orphans before the civil upheaval were abandoned; children were forcibly recruited by the different warring militias.  Many of the orphans and abandoned children had nowhere to turn for help or guidance. Since the end of the civil war many less fortunate children, especially those in low-income neighborhoods and slums outside of Monrovia, the nation’s capital, have not seen the inside of a classroom. Refuge Ministries responded to the urgent human need of the suffering children with the founding of the Children’s Hope Village
